Southern Wedding Fun In Southern Pines
Elegant & Fun Southern Wedding DJ at the Weymouth Center in Southern Pines Southern Pines Wedding DJ Fun & Romance Are you the kind of couple who loves southern charm and has a deep love of literature & lush gardens? As Wedding DJs, we help with your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, no matter where in North Carolina or beyond that you happen to be. We’ve done events throughout the Southeast and the Sandhills, from Weddings in Fayetteville to Weddings in Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and Aberdeen. Southern Pines is a unique spot, full of equestrian ranches and centennial houses, and there are very few spots quite as lovely as the Weymouth Center for a beautiful southern wedding. Southern Pines is a literary city, and they take great pride in their tradition of artists, writers, intellectuals, creatives, and their deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms. The Weymouth Center is the writer’s cultural hub for this area of the North Carolina Sandhills and whether you’re from Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, (the Triangle), or from points further south (even in South Carolina, where this gorgeous spot is just a little bit further away but well worth the drive) you’re going to fall in love with the possibilities of this historic southern charmer.
The Weymouth Center in Southern Pines, North Carolina, hosts writers in residence and takes its inspiration for James Boyd, a local resident who was famous for his novel “Drums.” According to their website: “Boyd made Weymouth the seat of the Southern Literary Renaissance. F. Scott Fitzgerald and Thomas Wolfe were regular visitors. Weymouth is also home to the North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame.”
Imagine strolling the grounds and finding paths through the long-leaf pines where Fitgerald, Boyd, and Wolfe developed their ideas for their powerful stories while cardinals chirp and bluebirds glide from the three hundred year old oak tree to the glistening fountains, while your family and friends laugh and enjoy each others company under the shade outside on this historic property. It might just be your perfect wedding solution.
The couple we were working with were not just informed about their location, they knew their guests very well too, and had taken lots of opportunities to craft a one-of-a-kind event for their family and friends. There were scores of individual touches that illuminated not just their own personalities, but also the love they felt for their guests.
The wedding ceremony took place in the gardens behind the mansion, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful summer day. While there had been a slight threat of rain, our back-up plan included moving guests inside the house, we didn’t need to because everything worked out perfectly for this wedding ceremony in the sunlight.
The Groom’s vows were delivered with a little help – specifically a board that he’d written his vows on, and had pasted the bride’s favorite treats to incorporate into his vows. Saying, ‘I know we’re just a couple of (NERDS) but I love you from here to the (MILKY WAY) and you bring so much (JOY) into my life that I can’t image I’d trade a moment with you for (100 GRAND).”
Once the ceremony was over, the guests made their way up to the cocktail hour under the tent where games, special treats, and activities were in store while our newlyweds took photos. A Unique Wedding Cocktail Hour Experience Having seen lots of cocktail hours, we’re treated to a different wedding experience than most couples are, since they’re out taking pictures while guests are mingling. This particular couple at our Southern Pines, NC wedding at the Weymouth Center took care to make sure their guests had lots of entertainment options for their wedding.
They’d added cornhole, giant jenga, can jam, spikeball, and a delicious assortment of special treats on each and every table, from small baskets full of ice cold bottled waters, soft drinks, lemonades and fruit punches, to baskets on the table featuring all their favorite candies (including many featured in our groom’s cleverly sweet vows!). Guests mixed and mingled and then got some truly amazing news – we’d arranged for a food truck to show up and make their favorite fair foods, including deep fried Oreos and funnel cakes.
Once the Cocktail hour was over, it was time to ask everyone to be seated for our bridal party introductions (Let’s Get It Started by Black Eyed Peas) and our couple me in to Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love” and they immiediately went into their first dance, followed by their touching father-daughter dance (My Little Girl by Tim McGraw) and poingnant mother-son dance (Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion since mom was a big fan).
Because of the southern North Carolina sun, it was decided the couple would do their cake cutting before dinner was served, so before we invited guests into the house for the buffet they were treated again to one of the most delicious traditions in weddings.
After a delicious dinner, it was time to party. Normally, many couples will work with our online planning forms to craft a playlist that hits many of their favorites as well as including songs that they know their guests will love, but this Raleigh couple with a heart of service decided to make sure that we were as accommodating to their guests as possible – they had seen us perform many times at other events at our club residencies throughout the triangle and knew we had the party covered and to make sure that we were taking requests as their guests felt at the time. and it was a great party! With lots of dancing in store, the uplighting we’d done around the tent really enhanced the overall experience as the sun set, and family, friends, and guests partied the night away under the southern stars.
We are incredibly grateful that we got the chance to share in this beautiful southern wedding experience as their DJs to help with their sweet wedding ceremony, unique cocktial hour, and fun & romantic reception, especially at a place as historic and lovely as the Weymouth Center in Southern Pines. Of all the weddings we get to do across North Carolina, both in the Raleigh Area and in the Fayetteville area, this was definitely one of the most unique weddings we’ve had the pleasure of participating in.
